Profitez d'une belle promenade en pleine nature! This nature walk is about 2 miles around Spooner Lake's trails, flat and level with abundant waterfowl and beautiful wildflowers in July. A true hidden gem right in our backyard!

About the event

Inspired by the success of April's Walk for Peace (Bougez pour la Paix), the Alliance Française de Reno is organizing a series of casual hikes for all ages and fitness levels. These hikes will take place in the beautiful surrounding areas, promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering community spirit.

Event Date: July 6th, 2024  Time: 10:00 am to approximately 12:30 pm, including time for a picnic lunch.

Join us for this exclusive nature walk at Spooner Lake, led by our Board Member and passionate hiker, Mavis LePage Leathley alongside Rémi Jourdan, Reno-Tahoe's French Consul Honoraire.  

Spooner Lake, a hidden gem, is located in the scenic Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe.

Note:  carpooling is no longer be available.

DIRECTIONS:

Depending on where you are driving from, the best way is to google maps directions here.

In essence:  

Spooner Lake is located approximately 7 miles above Carson City on highway 50 just past the summit.

Turn right onto highway 28. The entrance to Spooner State Park is about 1 mile away.

· You will have to go through the entrance; it costs about five dollars to enter.

· You will see parking and picnic tables as you go through.

.  We will meet at the Visitors' Center.

The walk is 2 miles; flat and level around the lake. 

This is a lovely walk with wildflowers, pine trees and the beautiful lake. We can converse in both French and English.

After the walk we will have a picnic under pine trees with a mountain breeze.

Bring what you would like to eat and drink.

We look forward to seeing you for this  leisurely summer outing at Spooner Lake.
